Are you looking for local festivals and events? Get ready to enjoy Atlanta's best seasonal celebration! On the weekend of April 27 - 28, the 42nd annual Inman Park Spring Festival offers the whole city a fantastic package of free fun. Festival hours on Saturday are from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm, and the Sunday hours are 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The Parade

One of the favorite parts of the festival is this terrifically creative homegrown parade. This year's parade features the Precision Attache Case Drill Team, the Seed and Feed Marching Abominables, and a Trash Monarch Butterfly. The parade begins at the corner of Edgewood and Euclid at 2 pm on Saturday April 27, rain or shine. Its route continues on to Austin Avenue at the foot of Little Five Points.

Kidzone

The festival provides kids with their very own special play space, including a giant slide, an obstacle course, an inflatable home run challenge, basketball Pop-a-Shots, and an arts and crafts area. The Kidzone can be found behind the main music tent, in Springvale Park just off Euclid Avenue. Like all the other Spring Festival offerings, the Kidzone is free to all.

Atlanta's biggest Arts and Crafts Show and Street Market

Come and browse the work of the area's most talented artists, sculptors, photographers, and craftspeople. A juried Arts and Crafts Show has accepted the work of more than 150 of these fine artists. In addition, another 250 booths will feature the wares of antique dealers and a wide range of local crafts people. The Market hours are 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Music

Live music will fill both afternoons, as an eclectic variety of musicians play on three different outdoor states. These stages are located at the Euclid Tent, The Delta Park Stage at Edgewood Avenue, and the Wonderroot Stage at Poplar Circle and Euclid Avenue. Check the lineup of artists on the festival's music page to find out when your favorite musician will be playing.

Atlanta's Funkiest Footrace

The Rocket Run is a fundraiser for the Mary Lin Education Foundation, which supports the local elementary school. Registration to participate in the race costs $30 (since it is a fundraiser) and is open to anyone who would like to participate. Registration is available here until 3 pm on Thursday April 25.

Dance

This is the 12th year that the Inman Park Dance Festival has taken place within the larger Spring Festival. Several local dance companies will be performing this year, in styles ranging from contemporary to classic. Like the music, the dance performances are completely free.

Great Food

The festival will be filled with exciting low-cost favorite foods offered by food booths. This year the choices will include pizza, barbecue, gyros, funnel cakes, sandwiches and much more. In addition, Inman Park neighborhood restaurants will all be open.

Home Tours (tickets cost $15 to $20 each.)

The Inman Park neighborhood has an inspiring history, and every year the Spring Festival offers the public a chance to view some of its houses and points of interest. Tickets may be bought online ahead of time here for $15, or for $20 during Festival hours at the main Sales Booth on Elizabeth Street and Euclid Avenue. A free shuttle bus will help you cover the tour route.
