With it's short days and long nights, winter has it's way of getting the most of even the best of us. These CHEAP and easy activities will bring a little variety into your routine and spice up even the longest of nights.

Get Crafty

GOpher Little lists activities at the library or your local craft stores that can involve everyone. How about learning how to paint at Sip and Strokes ? Bring your own wine (or favorite beverage) and unleash the artist in you. Or how about getting dirty? Sculpting with clay and painting pottery may become your passion at My Clayground. Search GOpherLittle for classes in the arts and crafts that inspire you.

Go Outside and Play

Nature hikes in winter have their own charm, especially the warm ups by the fire afterward. Your whole family can find unique and exciting adventures with Night Hikes in Georgia State Parks. Too cold? Climb a mountain and stay inside with an indoor climbing walls from Ascension Climbing. Kids learn valuable climbing skills in a safe and padded environment. Got a lot of energy to get rid of? You've never seen anything like a trampoline park. Bounce, flip, and throw dodge balls at Sky Zone, the world's very first all-trampoline walled playing court. There's one in Roswell, another in Suwanee, and a third coming soon to Kennesaw.

Host A Dinner Party

It's easy to find caterers, party supplies, and special events that can spark a dinner party for friends, new ones as well as your old standbys. If catering is a bit too fancy for this occasion, post a notice for your own pot luck surprise event. This is a great, low-cost way to host a dinner party without having to foot the entire bill. Your group of friends will love contributing their favorite dish and the little contributed by each guest creates a lot to gather and be grateful for.  You can even design and make your own invitations, another activity altogether!

Learn to Play

Local universities and musical supply stores often sponsor classes in learning to play instruments, improve your singing voice, or even just appreciate music. Search GOpherLittle for music-related classes and events. The longer nights of the colder months are perfect for turning in early and settling down with some self study.  Take a little time and rekindle some of those lost interests. There are an abundance of free online courses available by professional musicians to suit the style and genre of your choice. With a little research you can be on your way to musical proficiency. Who knows, you may even end up starting that garage band!

What do you know?

There's something that you are good at -- maybe several things. Take an inventory of what skills or knowledge you have. It can be anything from crochet to literature to movie trivia to local history.  Once you know what you can do, teach your own class! Just post your times, fees, and location at GOpherLittle for free. Whatever you know, there's a good chance that some of your friends or neighbors in the Atlanta area want to know and will pay to learn it. Reserve a room at your local library or recreation center and turn your knowledge into new friends and maybe a little cash.
With so much to do at GOpherLittle.com, there is no reason the colder months have to mean soup and videos. In addition to stimulating your mind, body, and creativity, you can actually make new friends and earn some extra spending money for your next adventure.
