1. Centennial Olympic Park

Built for the Olympic Games hosted in Atlanta, the 20-acre park features many free events the whole family will enjoy. The Fourth Saturday Family Fun Days offer a variety of family-oriented entertainment and activities such as music, contests, plays and much more.

2. Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site

The National Park Service offers free year-round tours of the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site which features visitors centers' exhibits, Dr. King's childhood home and the Civil Rights Walk of Fame. Parking is also free!

3. Fernbank Science Center

The Fernbank Science Center is a fun way for families to spend learning about science. Every first Thursday of the month the center offers free 2-hour tours for families. Singles tours are also available lasting an hour, and are also free of charge. For more information

4. The Lasershow Spectacular at Stone Mountain Park

One of Atlanta's most popular free family events is the Lasershow Spectacular staged at Stone Mountain Park. Set to a variety of music types, the lasers light up the Georgia nightime sky. Sure to thrill even the youngest family members and adults alike, the admission is free.

5. The Atlanta Jazz Festival

Every May Piedmont Park in Atlanta hosts free jazz festivals that last the entire month. The whole family will enjoy the sights and sounds of the best jazz performers in the country. There is a film festival, games and displays for the kids and plenty of food.

6. Fulton County High Museum of Art

7. The Children’s Museum of Atlanta: Imagine It!

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month Target stores sponsor a special free admission day to the children oriented Imagine It! Children’s Museum. Basically a big indoor out-door playground with media and interactive fun for the kids. Painting, sculpting, and storytelling are among the free activities on hand.

8. Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is a huge park that attracts families from the Atlanta area all year long. Bicycling, rollerblading, fishing and hiking trails are among the fun-filled family activities the free park offers. Baseball, soccer, tennis and a dog-park bring families together on almost any weekend.

9.  The Center for Puppetry Arts

The Center for Puppetry Arts is a museum that features  permanent puppet related exhibits and special showcases including a tribute to Jim Henson and his Muppets. Kids and adults alike enjoy these and other activities at the museum.  Admission is free every Thursday from 1-3pm.

10. Grant Park Pool
